Hello friends, photo taken today, this woodcock was first found
(by its nose) and then pointing by the pointing dog of my friend,
I was well placed and managed to shoot this photo.

The reason why my logo is not at one of the corners
of the photo, it is to protect it from being stolen,
putting it at the corner people are cropping to remove it.
I do this only to my American Woodcock and Ruffed Grouse photos.

1/2500s f/5.6 ISO1600 85mm (35mm eq:127mm).

« Superbly camouflaged against the leaf litter, the brown-mottled
American Woodcock walks slowly along the forest floor,
probing the soil with its long bill in search of earthworms.
Unlike its coastal relatives, this plump little shorebird lives
in young forests and shrubby old fields across eastern North America.

Its cryptic plumage and low-profile behavior make it hard to find except
in the springtime at dawn or dusk, when the males show off for females
by giving loud, nasal peent calls and performing dazzling aerial displays. ».

Merci.

Asbed

Hello Asbed,
Nice to see you posting once again. A great capture of this exploding woodcock as it heads for higher ground. You captured the most important part, the eye and the majority of the head in wonderful detail. Not an easy feat, but you seem to always make it look easy.
Ron

Hello Asbed
Wonderful capture of this woodcock, so well camouflaged in the trees. The fact that it is about to take of has given us a great view on its wings and the comical head.
have a great day
Daniel

Bonjour Asbed,

L'oiseau est bien placé dans le cadrage. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails du décollage de la Bécasse d'Amérique. La bonne luminosité rehausse la beauté des couleurs. Bonne journée.

Pierre
