I've tried to get a photo that will show you the hills of this area, but being that there aren't any well defined peaks and/or deep valleys, I noticed that it isn't that easy to show it by the means of a photo. This is my try of the hills of Limburg.

This was the last photo I took of my morning excursion with Jacob (Bufo) Throughout the excusion we wondered how to capture the views in the distance without loosing the wideness of it. You know how a human is able to focus on to one spot but still 'see' the entire scenery surrounding it. We figured that it is impossible, but that you can get close by including objects in the FG. But still something is missing. If you do have an idea, let me know.

The view here is on an area called Cottessen which was once named the most beautiful location of the Netherlands.

As you can see it was a rather hazy day. I even have some photos of that day where the sky has turned grey but you still felt the sun burning.

On pp. not much than my standard conversion from RAW to JPEG, the adjustment of levels and curves, USM, frame and resize.

Hi Niek,

beautiful open view, it has a really fresh feel to it and the branches and twigs framing the foreground add a nice sense of depth.
I think you have succeeded in showing that Holland does have some height here, despite it's stereotypical 'flat' image. Maybe a slight inccrease in saturation and contrast would enhance it a little. i will try to do a w/s if i can later (am at work at the moment!)

tfs,

Paul

Hello Niek,

Almost a landscape in Wallonia but you taken in Netherlands Limburg, very lovely area, but very difficult for bikers.
You show us a excellent landscape picture with a nice composition and misty atmosphere above the hills, very well done.

Greetings from Flanders,
John

Hi Niek, lovely and peaceful landscape with wonderful light and colors, great composition, may be better with Umbria's sky:), very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Niek,
nly a hill, but from this perspective one could think you standing on top of a mountain. Great POV with a wonderfful view far into the landscape. I love the fresh green spring grass, nature seems to wake up from hibernation.

Hi Niek, no it does not work for me. I can understand your frustration with this location as it would be difficult to build a strong composition. I don't think the light was in your favor either. Hard to say not being there what I would do myself, I would probably go looking for a suitable tree or go in close with ultra wide to built an interesting foreground. Certainly under better light casting long shadows would help the mood. Regards Steve.

hello niek!
wonderful landscape photo with great composition and colors.

Hi Niek,
Personally I think that if you want to make hills/mountains look more hilly/mountainous don't weight them down with so much sky. I'd make this 2/3 land and 1/3 sky. I'd stick with just the center section without the twigs and branches on either side. I don't feel there is enough of them for effective framing. As they are they don't add to the sense of distance. I'm not sure that distance was your goal anyway. I think it was the hills. If that is so then eliminate as much as you can that doesn't help tell that story. I like the two sloping hills forming a nice off center Vee with the trees and that "orangey" roof(?) as a focal point.
Thanks for sharing yet another image of your peaceful, gentle landscape and nice soft Dutch colors.

Hello Niek,
An attractive, slowly rolling landscape is captured!
What I appreciate most is the fresh colour of green, telling the story of spring...
Well framed and with good details, fine lines and nicely framed!
Greetings,
Pablo -
